Insomnia

We all have suffered of physical pain in some point of our lives. Yes, we know what hurts, when it began and how to treat it for being healthy again. That pain is nothing compared to menthal pain that starts with insomnia.

When we cannot sleep, we suffer and is a very different kind of suffering because there is just an expression to describe it: I cannot sleep. What happens in our brain when we stop sleeping? I wish I know. I can only speak with the facts of my insomnia memories.

Time, feels different. Heart sounds in our mind, anguish comes for us. No matter what we do, how many cups of tea we take, if we drink hot milk or if we put our favorite music or a boring movie. Our mind, decided to stop sleeping process and it is a disaster.

Ansiety of being unable to sleep is like a panic crisis. We don´t find ourselves anywhere and at the end we have to look for help in order to find some rest again.

Be careful. Help comes in a form of pill and sometimes it becomes addictive. Then you will have insomnia solved but you have the pain of feeling like a junky each night waiting, making time, to take the pill and disconnect your self from reality.

As human beings we fear too much about the future when we do not know if we will be alive when it comes. Fearing future is the biggest ingredient of ansiety. Try to be present. Breathe. Walk. Pay attention to current details. To the grass in the morning, the sound of cars crossing the bridge that you can see from your home, look after that beautiful hummingbird that came to your balcony for a drink in the San Joaquin flower. Please, try to be here. Do not go with your mind to places you cannot understand yet. Everything has a purpose and even your difficulty has one.

If doctor sent you the pill, take it and be greatful for it. Do not fear going to bed. I know it can be a horror story but just for today, take a previous shower and get inside those blankets and breath in, hold a few seconds and breath out.

With some luck. The stress you were living took your brain to that state where he couldn´t turn down. Recover. Feel joy again. Do not worry about people at the office that can see how tired you are. Recognize it. Yes you are tired and yes, you deserve to rest.

Listen to your inner voice. It has more wisdom than you think. Do not push you to feel good from one day to another. Give yourself sometime. If you need a licence, take it. You are very important and universe is working to help you. Just trust a little bit more and wait for the changes.
